Rain at Gering, Barlock wins at Big Country

A heavy rain fell early Friday evening that eliminated qualifying. Many drivers spent the afternoon on the track working on their setups only to see the rain end the evening before some could get on the trak to race. Drivers drew pills for the races. Fifteen cars were on hand at Hwy 92 Raceway Park. Six cars started the trophy dash, with Scotty Scott winning the race. Wayne Barlock was second and Josh Richard third. Chappy Adkins, Zach Witherwax and BreAnn Adkison finished in that order. The rain started to fall again and the races were cancelled. Hwy 92 announced a date for their shootout.  September 28 is their date this fall. The RMLRA is scheduled to race at I-25 on that date.

Saturday evening, after two straight rain out dates, twenty-two race cars were on hand at Big Country Speedway in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Ryan Jones was the top qualifying Legend with a time of 14.074. Thanks to all the first year drivers that showed up to race on Saturday. Terry McBride suffered an engine problem in qualifying and did not race. Wayne Barlock held on to win the feature race with Ryan Jones and Chris Cooper right on his rear bumper. This was Wayneʼs first feature win of the season. Randy Haynes made his debut in a Legend car and made a great pass in turns three and four to beat Dillon Foster by a foot at the finish line. I heard that this will be the only race for this car this season. Brad Tilton captured the fast heat race.

Legend Purchases and Sales Information

The number seventy-three car that was owned by Adam Kasick of Windsor, has been purchased by Pat Manchego and raced it Saturday night at Big Country Speedway. The number fifty-two car of Eric Hipkins has been sold to Kyle McCartney of Denver and is reported to possibly be back on the track before the end of the 2013 season. Bill Blevins has bought the former number one car of Eric Stedman. Bill was on the track with the car Saturday night. Randy Haynes also raced a Legend for tthe first time in the number five car which was bought from John Ulander earlier this summer. To all those who have made these transactions we wish the best of luck to them.
