Medina wins third straight RMLRA feature

The predicted rainy weather that could have possibly been in the area last night did not materialize and a great evening for Legend racing at Colorado National Speedway was enjoyed by many Legend drivers and fans.

Tripp Gaylord made his season debut last night driving the #33 Legend. Trip is in the Young Lion division and looks to have some experience on a race track. With hot lap practice starting at 1:00 PM the cars were on the track getting in some early practice when Gaylordʼs #33 burst into flames entering turn three. He coasted to a stop in turn four and emergency personell had the fire out in seconds. An oil line on the left side of the engine came loose caused the problem. After repairs in the pits, Tripp brought his car out for the second heat race. Falling in at the back of the field, Tripp drove well and logged in some laps. In the feature his car failed him with a electrical problem.

Twenty-five cars were on hand last night, and it appeared that all cars went back on their trailers as they came off with no serious damage. The RMLRA will be at I-25 Speedway this coming weekend. Take time out this weekend to support this race as a couple of cars have indicated they cannot be on hand to race this weekend. This race was added to our regular schedule last month. With two rain outs and a race cancelled
this season, we hope many of you will bring your cars to Pueblo for this race. The National qualifiers will be here in a couple of weeks and looking forward to many of you racing both nights. Thirty-three cars have raced with the RMLRA this season and names, point and results can be seen on our web page. (www.RMLRA.org)

In the feature race Saturday night, you could see the rookie drivers gaining more experience and becoming more alert to what was going on during the race. Drivers you did very well.

Danny Medina won his third straight feature and looked strong in doing so. Danny has been racing for about twelve to fourteen years now and he does know his way around the track. I also talked with Anthony Medina last night in the trailer and he is recovering from a serious leg injury suffered at work. He hopes to be back racing at the Nationals in Las Vegas if he heals up as expected.

Kyle Ray has the point lead after four races. L. Scotty Scott is second, sixteen points behind. It is early in the season with many more races before the last race is ran.
