Kyle Clegg wins 25 Lap Feature @ CNS

Kyle Clegg raced to the front at the drop of the green flag on Saturday evening and led all twenty-five laps as he won his second feature of the 2013 season. Kyle, a ten year veteran Legend car racer made it look real easy as he received the pole position for the race and out ran the field of Legend race cars to the checkered flag. This feature race was completed in a little over eight minutes. It was good to see a green, white and checker finish, but several drivers in the pits would have liked to have had a caution flag towards the end to possibly give Kyle some competition for the win.

It was a hot Saturday afternoon with the temperatures in the high nineties, with thirty Race Central Media Legends in the pits. Two cars, #26 Chris Brunker& #31 Tim Mein suffered engine problems during the hot lap practices and did not race. #15 Danny Medina also was the victum of bad luck when he was involved in contact during the fast dash. His car was damaged as it made contact with the third turn wall.

Kyle Ray led all qualifiers with a time of 18.565. A total of six cars timed in under nineteen-seconds. #64 Randy Rooker of Peyton, Colorado made his first appearance of the season at CNS. Young Darrell J. Stewart also made his season debut at Colorado National Speedway driving the #30. He finished seventh out of thirteen cars in the Trophy Dash. As a rookie in the feature he pulled out after eleven laps getting the experience to be better as he gets more seat time in the car.

Zach Witherwax won his first Trophy Dash at the speedway last night. Kyle Clegg won the Fast Dash. Twenty-seven Legends started the feature Saturday night.

Special Event October 5, 2013

Colorado National Speedway also announced their October 5 Special Event. The two main divisions racing will be the Race Central Media Legends and Super Late Models. The Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM practice for the Legends begin at 3:00 PM. Qualifying starts at 5:15 PM and the first part of the 60 lap Legend Feature (20 Laps) is scheduled for 6:15 PM. There are no heat races scheduled. After intermission the final forty laps will be run. I have been told that the positions for the second race will be as you finish in the first part of this race. More information as I receive it on the purse.

This weekend the Legends will be back on the track at CNS.

There are four points races left on the schedule for the championship. Chris Cooper has a small lead over Ryan Jones.

Several drivers could make a move in the standings if someone has a bad race.
