ROCKY MOUNTAIN LEGENDS RACING
ASSOCIATION-AUGUST 7, 2011
Colorado National Speedway
was a hot place to be on Saturday. The temperature was over ninety degrees.
During the afternoon the racing surface was hot and slick. Twenty-one Legends
were on hand for the early racing program which started at 4:10 PM. As most of
you know the K&N NASCAR series was in town and the time that was put on the
show was demanding for the track. My question to ask is why was the time issue
in so much demand? Why was the race being tape delayed for almost two weeks and
time so important. Have they not heard
of tape editing. I am sure there was something that many of us don’t know
about. I thought that Colorado National did a very good job with the feature
races as they brought the cars out and introduced all the drivers before their
features started.
In the Legends feature the
racing was good and tight with Ray, Clegg, Eggleston and Gallegos racing hard
for the win. When the checkered flag flew Kyle Ray had his first win at CNS
this season. It was a very good race until the caution flag came out. A broken
bolt in the rear of Eggleston’s car, ended his evening. Mike Gallegos had to
pull off the track during the caution flag. Engine problems were reported to
cause Gallegos to drop out of the race. He later returned but finished six laps
off the lead lap.
In the all important RMLRA
championship points race Kyle Ray extended his point lead to fourteen points
over Scotty Scott. Scotty finished fifth in the race. Ray had a single point
lead going into the race. There are several cars that can move right into
contention by becoming legible by racing at I-25 in September. Those cars have
not met the requirements of racing at I-25 Speedway this season.
As many of you know by
now, Terry Plummer has bought the #12 car of Tyler Chrisinger, and has replaced
the number with the number fourteen. The number had belonged to Gary Stevens,
but due to work related problems, Gary never had a chance to get his car on the
track this season. He voluntarily gave up his number, so Terry a former
National champion and RMLRA champion could get back into the fourteen car. With
two weeks off before we race again, Terry has some work to change over his car
to where he likes the handling, and he should find his way into the top five in
the features. Terry drove hard last night and finished sixth.
With the next two weeks
being off dates, it sure would be nice to see a few cars repaired and back to
the track. I have heard that several cars are in the frame shops being
repaired. Thanks to all of you who make the RMLRA a special racing show
wherever we race. Remember without all of your cars we might not be the RMLRA.
If you are looking for parts, or trying to sell a car or parts please use our
free classified section on the RMLRA.org web page. Send your requests to Scotty
Scott. You can make contact with him by using the contact us on our web page, Enjoy the two week break and we will
meet again August 27, at Colorado National Speedway.
See you in the Pits.
