CNS Results - May 5, 2012

posted May 6, 2012, 9:00 PM by Admin RMLRA

With a lightening storm all around the track threatening to let loose, it became one of those nights and many problems on the track with oil leaks, contact, red flags and a blown engine, causing a twenty minute delay in the time shortened twenty-five lap feature to fifteen laps. It became a tough race to watch.

Not to take anything away from Kyle Clegg who won the feature holding off Danny Medina who was making his first start of the young season. Mike Gallegos, Kyle Ray and Scotty Scott made up the rest of the top five.

Twenty-three Legends were on hand and the field of cars was reduced to twenty-one when two cars made contact during hot laps. #15 Danny Medina of Colorado Springs, and #87 Billy Blevens of Arvada made their 2012 season debut. Billy was making his first appearance on a race track and his mission was to stay on the track and out of everyones way while finishing fourteenth in last nights feature race. Jessica Savage #11 also started last nights feature and finished fifteenth.

Ryan Jones of Arvada has found the transition to Legends very frustrating with his
second DNF this season in as many races. He again had the car in great racing shape last night but got caught up in traffic on lap one and had the car on its side. I talked to Ryan after the race and he was ok. Adam Pechman was limping in the pits but said he said he was ok. Now if we can get some cars fixed we should be ready for next weekend.

I-25 Speedway/Hwy-92 Raceway Park/Big Country Speedway
Drivers start planning on the season opener at I-25 Speedway in Pueblo, May 19. This great quarter mile track is just right for Legend racing. Two weeks later our first National qualifier held in Gering, Nebraska will be held as a part of our two day racing weekend June 1 & 2. Racing at Big Country Speedway in Cheyenne, Wyoming will add excitement as the RMLRA returns to Big Country Speedway. Both Gering and Cheyenne tracks did not host any Legend racin 2011 as the car count was not there to try to schedule any races.

New Driver
A new driver has bought the #87 Legend that was owned by Dan Chase of Strasburg.  Chris Brunker of Lakewood will compete as a Semi-Pro. He will race with the number twenty-six on his car. They have some work to do to get the car updated and ready to race.

Mike Gallegos won the trophy in the Legend Fast Dash. Cole MacEwen took the checkered flag in the second Legend Dash.

CNS results
