Gering, NE (September 4, 2009)

Twenty-Eight legends from all across the country checked in Friday Night at HiWay 92 Raceway Park in Gering, NE for the Legend Car National Qualifiers hosted by the RMLRA. Current National Pro points leader Daniel Hemric from Kannapolis, NC claimed the Pro Series win while his traveling mate Kenzie Ruston of El Reno, OK took the Semi-Pro win. Ruston us the current national Semi-Pro points leader and Hemric celebrated his win by landing a perfect back-flip off the top of his Legend Car. Washington's Bob Kroenberg took the Golden Masters win, while Colorado's Derek Kopp claimed the Young Lion win.

The 28 Cars were split between 13 Pros and Masters and 15 Semi Pros for the evening. Hemrich set fast time out of everyone in qualifying with a 14.69 lap. The quick 6 overall cars ran the trophy dash with Matt Henderson claiming that. The four heat races were won by Wayne Barlock Jr, Dirk Henry, Kenzie Rustin and Josh Bandstra.

The 25 Lap Pro/Master feature was first out with Brad Hancock jumping out to the early lead, but Daniel Hemrich was unstoppable. Hemrich took over the lead with Jimmy Hansen moving into second. The feature went caution free as Hemrich added another trophy to his collection ahead of Hansen, Hancock, Wrango West and Matt Henderson.

The 15 Semi Pros then were released onto the track and Daniel Ivaska led early, but here came Kenzie Ruston. Kenzie and Zach Powell put on a great race for the lead. Lap 19 saw 4 restarts, then it was a matter of survival as spins and collisions made the race intense. Rustin took off on every restart and held off Powell for the big win. Powell settled for second over Michael Dick, hard charger Brittany Duncan from the back who was making passes high and low, and Derek Kopp.
