The
RMLRA Board Officers met Tuesday evening, and many items were discussed. The
next general meeting for all RMLRA drivers, car owners and people interested in
the Legends racing program will be March
5, 2011, at Leary Racing Products, 1990 S. Navajo St., Denver, 80223. The
meeting will start at 10:00 AM. Please bring a chair to sit on.
Tuesday nights meeting had discussions on a
new points system possibly going into effect for the 2011 season. The proposal
will be brought to the membership at the meeting and voted on. The schedule has
been looked at and tentatively been set at twenty-three races. The top sixteen
races will be counted toward the points championship. It is a long season as
CNS will start racing in April and their track will stay open through October.
The points procedure should be available at the meeting. The Board is still
waiting on confirmation of the schedule to be complete. When the schedule is
official, the points system can be explained a lot easier. And the weather may
come into play early in the season when CNS has several races. If races are
cancelled due to weather in the spring and fall, the short tracks will figure in the sixteen race
requirement. There will be no scheduled RMLRA races at Hwy. 92 Raceway Park in Gering,
Nebraska this season. The lack of cars that were contacted in our survey
indicated only four cars would support the Friday night racing program this
season. In talking with the track owner, we will try again next season. We
should have good car counts at I-25 this season.
When confirmation is received, information on
the National qualifier will be released.
Other items of interest discussed last night
were drivers code of conduct in the pits during the racing program. The Board
will meet February 28th and propose some changes to the by-laws. These
proposals will be brought to the attention of the membership at the next
general meeting.
Membership
fees are due at the meeting.
Driver Profile:
The
#78 car driven by Brittany Duncan finished fourth in the 2010 RMLRA points
race. Brittany is now attending the University of Northern Colorado. The race
car is up for sale and if sold, Brittany may not return to race during the 2011
season. Thanks to the Duncan family for all the man hours spent in helping many
a driver rebuild cars along with their own. |
