![]() First Race of the season is upon us this Saturday! Well here we are folks as the first race of the season is this Saturday evening at Colorado National Speedway. Although some weather conditions are trying to keep us off the track, it appears that the weather will move out and the temperatures should be in the sixties on Saturday. The gates open at 11:30 AM, practice starts at 1:00 PM and the races start at 5:00 PM. All racing activities start one hour earlier in April due the cooler weather. Please check the CNS web page for schedule changes. Just another item to remember is the maintenance on your oil lines and that your drain plugs for your rear end differential are secure. Trying to prevent oil from being spilled onto the track surface is a big concern for this season. Do your best to help. Since oil coolers are a main concern for oil leaks, keep that in mind as you prepare to start a race. They want you to close them up for the start of the race but leaving a little distance is a good idea.Chris Cooper, defending RMLRA champ will be back to defend his title this season and several top contenders will be pushing him for the championship trophy that is awarded the top driver at the end of the season. It is rumored that Kyle Ray is only going to run a limited schedule this season as he has moved up to race in the Super Modified class at CNS. Kyle is also racing a CARC Modified Coupe. He has a feature win already this season. Teammate Cole MacEwen is headed to the Super Modified division also as his #85 Legends car has been put up for sale. The Rookie class this year will not be as large as the past few seasons. I don’t have a complete list of rookies yet but, Randy Haynes of Cheyenne, Austyn Radosta of Pueblo, Don Brunker, Lakewood, Darrel J Stewart, Arvada, Jace Penetta, Arvada, and Brady Van Matre of Lafayette are possible rookie contenders this season. Connor Snow will possibly race later this season. As of this date he is not of age to race at CNS. To all rookies please notify CNS of your status when signing in to the pits for your first race. Rookie Drivers you must have your rear bumper painted yellow or yellow tape indicating that you are a rookie. Either will be accepted. If you are a first year driver and are not running for rookie of the year please notify me. All of this information will be updated when it is finally passed along to me. A drivers meeting will be held for Legends drivers and please plan to attend. A new track procedure has been put into place for cars that are involved in contact bringing out the caution flag. Please make sure you understand this new procedure. Remember that your car must go through track inspection before it is permitted on the track. For those of you who did not attend the hot lap practices earlier this spring, plan to be a little early so you can take to the track to practice. MS 98 fuel is available at Leary Racing Products. See you in the Pits. |
