The RMLRA racing season has officially started with last Saturdayʼs races at Colorado National Speedway. Twenty-eight Legends were on hand and many drivers were making their debut in their race cars. A complete list of our drivers and rookies will soon be updated and listed on our RMLRA.org web page. Several drivers are new to racing and need some practice before racing on the tracks against other drivers. With a little luck we should have close to thirty cars on most Saturdayʼs at Colorado National. Several cars had prior commitments and a few were not ready to race.

A great big thanks from the Legends as Colorado National Speedway made a repair on the big bump that was in turns one and two. The bump really effected the lighter Legend cars in the past few years. Faster speeds have been recorded in just one week at the track.

Veteran driver Danny Medina of Colorado Springs won the season opener. He was chased to the finish line by Chris Eggleston, Kyle Ray, Mike Gallegos and Kyle Clegg. There are many good drivers who travel and race with us, and when the RMLRA is racing on the shorter tracks, just about anybody can win the feature. Many of last years drivers are returning for the 2013 season.

Rookie driver Sidney Ross of Broomfield was the top rookie finisher Saturday night as she drove her #61 to a fourteenth place finish. She along with all the young drivers did a great job in their first Legend race.

Rookies starting their first Legends race:
#61 Sidney Ross Broomfield
#17 BreAnn Adkison Cheyenne, WY.
#20 Kynzer Riddell Westminster
#04 Dillon Foster Arvada
#09 Terry McBride Edgewater
#31 Tim Mein Frederick
#1 Jereme Wall Commerce City

The 2013 season has many first year drivers. Several have already indicated that they need practice to get ready to race. Buying a Legend car late this spring was #14 Chappy Adkins of Kersey, CO. He is an experienced driver and should find his way towards the front of the pack as he gains experience in his Legend race car.

The RMLRA will be off this weekend and back at CNS May 18. Memorial Day weekend will feature three races back to back, starting at HWY 92 Raceway Park in Gering, Nebraska on Friday, then on to Big Country Speedway in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Saturday. Sunday evening at Colorado National Speedway will be the track where the third and final race of these Asphalt National qualifiers will be held. The winners of these races in all the divisions receive a starting spot in the championship race at Lake Erie Speedway in Erie, Pennsylvania in September.
