Rainout at Big Country-Chris Eggleston wins feature at Colorado National Speedway

Friday at Big Country Speedway, race cars practiced through the afternoon and were lining up to qualify when the clouds moved into the area and dumped a lot of rain and hail. The rain was so heavy that water ran from the pit area into the grand stand area and finally onto the track. An hour later track management decided to call it a night as rain was slowly falling and water was still running across the track. A good turnout of sixteen Legend cars were on hand and with the rainout the Short Track Challenge will probably be reschedule on a later date. Information on the Short Track Challenge will be released when this becomes available.

Colorado National Speedway

Saturday evening at Colorado National Speedway rain was in the area all afternoon and when a light rain fell time trials were cancelled. It cooled off and kept the fans from showing up for the races. Track management said that it was the smallest crowd for a Memorial Day race that they could remember. A electrical problem forced the track to postpone their Super Late Model race when the lights on the track in certain areas would not turn on.

Chris Eggleston driving his number twenty-two Legend car made a move going through turns three and four and beat Kyle Clegg and Brent Scheidmantle on the last lap to the checkered flag. Chris now has two feature wins in two starts at Colorado National Speedway this season. Chris who races in the K&N West series won last week in California and has two wins in that series so far this season.

The feature had a tough time getting started as there caution flags were thrown at the start of the race. A equipment failure led to the first caution in turn one. When the race finally got under way it was a great race up front and a lot of good racing took place.

The RMLRA will return to Colorado National Speedway this Saturday evening June 3rd. We still have a few cars that have not been able to join us at the tracks this season and we look forward to seeing you soon. There were twenty-nine cars in the pits on Saturday evening. Thank you for your support. The #08 of Jace Hansen did not race as his Late Model was heavily damaged in their SLM Dash race, Legend drivers do preform your check list weekly and make sure all cables and linkage are secure. It will save you some expenses on your car if you don’t have a failure during the races. Looking for some warmer and dryer weather.
